Proposed visual identity design and logo update. The MBTA already has a recognizable identity system in place, but after some research I realized the keywords outlined in their strategic plan did not exactly line up with that identity. My goal for this project, rather than to create something entirely new, was to elevate and refresh the existing logo for the MBTA. Using several keywords from their strategic plan (accessible, strong, safe, historic, fast, reliable), I developed an identity system that uses typography to convey strength and safety and preserve the history of their current identity, and elements of color, shape and movement to inject a sense of reliability, speed, and accessibility into the new identity.
